On March 26th, an Open Doors Day took place at the Faculty of Industrial and Telecommunications Engineering (ETSIIT), with a visit from high school students from Cantabria and Palencia. Cantabria Chip Chair lecturers Yolanda Lechuga and José Ángel Miguel had the opportunity to show off the Microelectronics Laboratory, part of the Cantabria Chip Chair. The laboratory serves the design of digital, analog, and mixed systems, as well as MEMS. There, they explained the exponential development of this technology over the last century and its presence in a growing number of products and services. Microelectronics training opens the door to high-value-added jobs, which are in high demand in the electronics sector in general and the semiconductor sector in particular, with specific associations such as AESEMI. We hope to soon welcome the students who visited us interested in the electronics and microelectronics training offered by the ETSIIT and the Cantabria Chip Chair.
